Basic Tips for the Proper Use of Sauna

Sweating it out in the sauna is one effective way to keep in shape. This heated space can help bring you relaxation, relief of joint and muscle pains, and detoxification. However, one shouldn’t just go in without knowing the proper use of a sauna. Because of the high temperature inside, you must make the necessary precautions to ensure a safe session.

Hydrate


This is very important because you will be sweating a lot inside the sauna. Drink a glass or two of water before the sauna to hydrate, and then another two to four glasses after to make up for the water you lost by sweating. The point here is to avoid dehydration.

Don’t Wear Jewelry Inside


You should take off your jewelry and other accessories before making your way inside the sauna. Metals can easily heat up in high temperature, while plastic can easily melt. Rubber should be fine, but it should be heat-resistant. If you want to keep your watch so you can keep track of your time inside, make sure that it can withstand the heat of the room.

Time Yourself

As with everything else, moderation is key to getting the full benefits of being in the sauna. The ideal time spent inside is 15 to 20 minutes. It’s a great place to have a private chat with your friend, especially if you’re in a 2 person infrared sauna, but be mindful of the time. You can continue with your conversation anyway as you cool down outside.

Follow these safety tips before coming into the sauna and you should come out feeling refreshed and relaxed.
