To say that saunas have been around for a while would be an understatement. In fact, the earliest saunas in Finland are said to date back at least to the 12th century. Back in those days, the traditional Finnish sauna was heated by a mere wood stove.

These days, however, there have been major advances in the heating technology of saunas. One such advance is the use of far infrared light to heat the sauna cabin. Unlike steam-based heating systems, this new technology uses infrared light to directly heat the body and induce sweating. It offers many benefits, including lower energy consumption, as well as heat that penetrates deeper into muscle tissues.

That being said, there is one concern that might hold back potential buyers from purchasing an infrared sauna: electromagnetic fields, or EMF.
