In terms of anecdotal evidence, these saunas provide a host of beneficial health effects including feeling relaxed and refreshed. As for scientific evidence, studies on the effectiveness of the infrared sauna show fair to moderate evidence that it produces health benefits , especially in connection to fatigue, blood pressure control, and cholesterol reduction. First off, you should know the difference between infrared and other types of saunas, as each will differ in the health benefits they provide. Traditional saunas commonly use wood stoves or 220-volt heaters to raise the temperature of the air to around 185°F, which then warms occupants through heat convection. The main problem is that some individuals are not comfortable at this level of heat. Infrared saunas, on the other hand, increase the heat to only around 140°F, a much more comfortable level for many people. This allows users to stay longer inside, especially in a far-infrared sauna.
